Aquamarine : Issued in September 2005, after an intensive summer recording session at Carla Bayle in the Ariège, Aquamarine is more sophisticated, lucid, concise and diverse than Zerzura. In the course of 9 live tracks, the trio explore the textural possibilities of their instruments and present a multi-dimensional vision of their own compositions. Zerzura, L'oasis Perdu : Recorded in September 2004 and issued in April 2005, mainly as a promotional CD, the first edition was nevertheless soon sold out at gigs. The album contains early live improvised takes of Zerzura, Geigenschein, Merman X, and Blueflux. The album begins with a spacious but tense alap, (inspired by the introductory section of North Indian raga form) in which the melodic material is established by the violin, in phrygian harmonic mode, and then breaks into a 4/8 3/8 3/8 rhythm…… |
